Is it ok to like a 23 year old that dated older girls?

he goes for poise,humour,conversation.intelligence.h… just a friend now but hes so sweet.girl that always puts me down said hes too old and that i w.ont go far with him.my friend dating 22 year old and she 27.any opinions? he said we have to meet to see how it goes .hes part german.he was talking to me while gardening .had the laptop outside hehe.now gotta bring things inside since its going to rain.
