Job Opportunites for a college student?

I really don't know if I can call myself a college student at this point, I attended Sonoma State University in northern California for a year and a half, unfortunately I could no longer pay tuition so I had to return to my mother's house. I'm in this weird stage where I've been out of school for more than six months, and I have been desperately seeking a job everywhere, but it seems that no matter where I apply they just will not take me. I am a very nice, poised, young 19 year old female desperately seeking a job and I don't want to use this sob story in an interview but I desperately need a job so that I can go back to school any suggestions, advice, places that are accepting people in my situation in the Los Angeles area would be greatly appreciated
